Be Kind Rewind Movie Review

This movie was actually a suprise. It was completely a comedy and the characters were not potrayed the way I expected. Now does that make for a good or a bad suprise? A good suprise, and I wasn't the only one that though so. I over heard a couple walking out discussing how much better it was than they would have thought.

The movie is about a video clerk and his buddy. The clerk works in a store that still rents out VHS tapes and it is struggling. The owner leaves the store in the hands of his young apprentice and the adventure ensues.

This movie is funny but it still tells a story. Every scene of the movie is somewhat awkard but that is what makes it good. It has a similar feel to Napolean Dynamite only a bit more commercialized. Jack Black is on of the lead characters, what do you expect? Go check this movie out it is worth the price of admission for sure. "Be Kind Rewind" what a forgotten phrase, boy do times change quickly.

Spiderwick Review

Nobody is going to ever read this blog again once I make this confession. I really enjoyed this movie. This movie was actually very good. I thought it looked really bad from the previews I had seen. It was either this or Roscoe Jenkins and Spiderwick won out, thanks to my girlfriend.

So you are probably sitting there thinking what makes this movie good? Well it is a really simple story. The storyline was incredibly easy to follow. The magic in the story wasn't over the top. I would even venture to say that if there were a dimension underlying our dimension, this would be how it worked. The parts that were corny had a bit of humor to them distracting from the fact it was corny. In other words the storyline offered misdirection when appropriate. If something was a bit stupid you knew it and the movie diverted you interest elsewhere long enough for you to overlook the absurd.

The actors did a really great job as well. They didn't go on and on about not believing. They didn't need a lot of proof once they got involved with the other dimension. The family conflicts were well played out and plausible. They played the parts as though they were reacting not acting to a real life scenario.

The movie also plays to all audiences succesfully. This is a kids movie that really appeals to adults as well. I am going to recommend this movie. Hopefully, you like it as much as I did. If you see this based on my advice let me know if you think I am an idiot.

Avenue Q Review

Well on Sunday night I went to see Avenue Q at the Fox Theatre here in St. Louis. The play was pretty funny. It is basically people walking around with puppets and kind of acting as the puppet but you could still see the person. That part was a bit wierd.

The best part is that I finally figured out where the Internet if for P0rn song came from. Please, do not type the word list in that song title properly use a zero so I don't get adsense for adult variety sites. Remember I do not censor my blog, but I should really reconsider this the site is the fifth amendment king not the first amendment.

Well the play was pretty funny the only bad part is that some of the parts were really inaudible and they should have used bigger flat screens. I couldn't see them at all. If Avenue Q comes to your town definitely check it out. Some of the scenes are suprising.

This was my first time to the Fox Theatre and I enjoyed my time. If you get a chance and your in St. Louis this is definitely an attraction that you will want to check out.

Descent Movie Review

The feminist out there have got to love this one, and that is not to say that this movie isn't good. I liked it, it was pretty scary. The movie was kind of took an older style that made it even better. The way the gore begins is very reminiscent of the seventies. The movie just had a classic sort of feel with respect to the filming. At first I thought I was watching some movie from the eighties.

This movie is about a group of female adventurer who find themselves spelunking in the wrong cave. There is something funky down there that wants to tear them apart. They are one group of vicious chicks who fight back a bit, they still do some pretty sissy things. They manage to tone down the sexiness of these women as well. I am not sure why the director wanted to go that route. I kept thinking there would be some hot lesbian scenes but there weren't. I tell you that because it is better that you do not get your hopes up. That is if you are a guy or a lesbian. You see I'm not sexist I know and acknowledge that some women are attracted to women. Lets get it on.

Anyway. The ending kind of stinks, I wasn't a fan of the end. It is not a surprise ending but I am surprised it ended the way it did. The other problem is that the enemy is not that formidable. If you had half a brain and didn't freak out it would be easy to whoop them cross eyed. All in all this movie is pretty fun and I am sure you can rent it still. If not buy it on DVD, I wouldn't mind having this one in my collection. I also, think I will post my DVD collection on-line and let you know if it was worth buying. I have bought a lot of crap DVDs, impulse shopping sucks but feel free to do it through any of my links. I know I'm a hypocrite.

Jumper Movie Review

All I have to say is that this is exactly the reason why I hate seeing too many previews. I new what was going to happen throughout the movie. The only thing the movie did was develop the story and clarify a few things. I'd still say this movie is worth seeing. Even if you have seen the ten different commercials.

I consider the movie mediocre. It is what it is and that is why I recommend it over the many other options you have at the box office. It is a simple sci-fi action flick with an underlying romance. The premise of the movie is that there are a select few people who can teleport, and there is another group of people who don't like that they have this power so they hunt the Jumpers.

The movie really tried to give religion a bad rap by saying they will commit any sin on behalf of their intolerance. Be warned. It didn't bother me but I know some of you are pretty staunch Christians. I will say I enjoyed the scenery this movie had to offer. This thing had to be really expensive to make.

I'm going to finish up by letting you know this movie was definitely built for sequels. It tells a complete story but intentionally leaves evidence to suggest a new saga will begin.

Kung Fu Panda Movie Release

I am really excited about this movie even though I am not the biggest fan of Jack Black. His movie tend to be either really funny or a total flop. It seems like when everybody was talking about him, his talents went downhill in a hurry.

Kung Fu Panda is a movie reserved by my girlfriend almost a year in advance of the release (June 6, 2008). Basically, this movie is going to be about a clumsy Panda who learns Kung Fu and isn't very good. Somehow by dumb luck the clumsy character will end up saving the day despite his shortcomings and the expertise of his peers. How you may ask? By having more heart, love and hope than anyone else. These traits will carry him through all the tribulation he will face and lead him to victory of his nemesis.

Now don't say George you ruined the movie six months before the release. This movie is still going to be great. We all know what it is going to be about. I plan to dumb myself down and go in for a well deserved laugh. I can't wait to see this one. I may even rough going on opening day, despite the inevitable crowd that will be lining up to watch this flick. By the Jack please don't ruin this movie.

Jumper Valentines Day Movie Release

Well there has been a real draught going on as far as what is in the box office. There isn't anything I really want to go see. I'm not even remotely interested in the movies that are being released. I haven't seen Atonement, but I don't want to for some reason.

I do know what movie I will be seeing on Valentines Day. That is Jumper at the request of my girlfriend. While all of you other guys are stuck at some cheesy romance flick. I will get to see this and my girlfriend will not be disappointed in my chose. Hahahaha. I have one of the best girls around.

I will say I have seen way to many previews related to this movie. They have advertised this one way too much. I'm almost certain there won't be any suprises. I have seen over half of it going into the theatre. I hate that.

It looks good. It is kind of like X-Men except the mutants are limited to one power and normal humans are doing the extermination. If you want to go out on a limb with your girl. There is a romance plot per the previews. If I am wrong don't kill me and I'll see you at the movies on Thursday.
